- Apply by mail through the Embassy of Vietnam. Fill out a form and send it to the Vietnam Embassy in the United States.
Flights to Vietnam
Da Nang International Airport (DAD)
We highly recommend exploring Asia or Vietnam on this trip. If our wedding is your first stop, fly into Da Nang International Airport (DAD). The airport is 30-50 mins from our wedding venue at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
Airlines Options
Here are some options to start your flight to Vietnam. We usually make stops in other countries to maximize award flights. You can check Google Flights or airline websites to book through their alliance networks.
- Vietnam Airlines: Offers direct flights from North America to Da Nang International Airport (DAD). This airline is reputable for domestic flights within Vietnam as well.
- Korean Air or Asiana Airlines: Offer connections via Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul, South Korea, one of our absolute favorite cities in the world. If you have a layover in Seoul, take the opportunity to discover the city's dynamic atmosphere and diverse culinary scene.
- Japan Airlines or All Nippons Airlines: Connections in Tokyo for a quick shopping or food stop in the airport. Just make sure you don’t have to run from Narita (NRT) to Haneda (HND) during your transfer!
- EVA Air or China Airline: Offers connections via Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in Taipei, Taiwan. If you have the chance, explore Taipei's vibrant city atmosphere and indulge in its renowned street food.
- Singapore Airlines: Provides connections via Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), easily one of the world's best airports for shopping and recreation. You can take advantage of the layover to explore Singapore's vibrant culture and try its famous street food.
Money
In general, it is recommended to carry cash in Vietnam. It is best to transact in Vietnamese dong (VND), although locals may also accept USD at an unfavorable exchange rate.
ATM & Banks
You can withdraw VND from ATMs or a bank. Prior to traveling, we highly recommend opening a free Schwab checking account for international ATM withdrawals. They reimburse all ATM fees, but make sure to inform the bank of your travel dates.
Local Exchange
You can also exchange USD for VND in person at gold/jewelry stores. Bring clean new $100 bills, for the best exchange rates.
Credit & Debit Cards
Some places, like the resort, do take cards, but not all. Be sure your credit card doesn’t have foreign transaction fees.
Tipping
Tipping isn't mandatory or customary in Vietnam, but it is always appreciated. If you're happy with the services provided by service workers, leaving a small tip is a good way to show your appreciation.
Ground Transportation
Rental Car
Do NOT rent a car. Please. Just don’t.
Ride Share
Download Grab (the Uber in Southeast Asia) and link your credit card — it will make things a lot easier for you upon arrival. This is good for getting around town, and to the resort. However, Grab won’t be allowed to pick up guests from the resort (see Taxi).
Taxi
You can order a Taxi from the airport as well. It’s pricer but negotiable. To leave the resort, you can use a cab from Vinasun, the resort’s approved taxi provider.
Private transfer
Check with the resort to see if they offer any shuttle options, both paid and unpaid. If you are staying in a penthouse suite or a villa at ICDN, you will receive round-trip limo transfers between the airport and the resort. Otherwise, expect to pay around $100 or more for one-way airport transfers.
