The Destination
Why a destination wedding?
In March 2023, we attended a destination wedding on an island in the Philippines and were inspired to have our own! We had an amazing time and even got engaged later during the same trip in Japan. We invite you to join us and use our wedding as an opportunity to travel the region or the world!
Why Vietnam?
Andrew grew up here. For that reason, Vietnam emerged as the most meaningful of the options we were considering, by far. Additionally, it's important to recognize that Vietnam has shown considerable advancement in LGBTQ+ rights, surpassing many countries in the region in this respect.
When should I arrive?
We suggest sometime the week of the wedding. We plan to fly to Vietnam pretty early on, as we need to prep and ensure that everything will go smoothly before the big day!
What will the weather be like?
In April, the weather in Da Nang can be warm, with temperatures ranging from 73º to 84ºF (23º to 29ºC). There is a very small chance of rain during this time.
What health preparations should I make?
As with any trip, it's important to stay up-to-date with routine vaccines (per CDC website). Stick to established resorts, hotels, and restaurants. Avoid buying food and drinks from smaller shops or street vendors unless you're feeling adventurous.
Help! It's my first time in Vietnam.
Our wedding planner can assist with guest logistics upon arrival. Locals generally have some English proficiency and are even more fluent in resorts and downtown areas, should you wish to explore.

The Resort
Why InterContinental Danang (ICDN)?
Andrew liked the beach, Tim liked the mountains, but both wanted a quiet location convenient for transportation and activities. This is our first time at this resort, and we want to make it memorable for everyone.
What complimentary benefits are available during my stay?
As our guests at ICDN, you have complimentary breakfast daily. After that, enjoy a variety of recreational activities such as water sports, wildlife workshops, and wellness classes. Children under 6 can eat for free and access the kids club.
If you book a clubhouse suite, villa, or penthouse, you will have access to the club lounge, afternoon tea, cocktails and canapés, and refreshments throughout the day. You will also be able to use the private lounge at the airport.
Additionally, villas include a dedicated host, round-trip limo airport transfers, resort tour, clothing pressing, and more.
How much should I budget for attending the wedding?
Besides the flight to Vietnam, you'll also pay for hotel, transportation, food outside of provided events, and non-complimentary activities at the resort. Our negotiated rate for ICDN's standard rooms is $480 per night, or $240 per person per night if sharing a room.
How do I make a reservation with your negotiated rate?
You can book directly with the resort through this form (remember to sign and email), or let us know to book for you instead.
How many nights should I book?
We suggest staying for two nights to fully enjoy the resort and to hang out the night before the wedding. If you can only stay for one night, book April 17th, the wedding day, and be on time.
Can I share a room with someone else?
Rooms with two separate beds are available. Let us know ASAP if you would like to share a room and split the cost, and we will arrange it.
Can we stay somewhere else?
Can't join us at ICDN? No worries! There are hotels 30+ minutes away from the venue. If you prefer this option, let us know now and we'll offer some suggestions and get group room rates for you.
We will also arrange shuttle buses to make sure you can arrive on time for the wedding and other group events.

The Wedding
What should I wear? (Dress Code)
Our wedding is a celebration of cultures, seamlessly integrating tradition and personal style. Feel free to honor your heritage — be it through a Qipao 旗袍, Cheongsam 長衫, Sherwani, or embrace the local culture with an áo dài. Alternatively, keep it classy with cocktail or black tie attire.
Avoid wearing red or white — these colors hold particular cultural significance. This will ensure all eyes stay one the grooms ;).
Are kids welcome?
We would love for your little ones to join us for our wedding ceremony. To ensure you get some time off to celebrate, we will provide babysitting and dinner onsite during the reception.
Can I take pictures during the ceremony?
Please enjoy the day with us. We’ll have professional photographers and videographers to capture the memories. Phones will not be allowed during the ceremony.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
Wedding ceremony will be outdoors on the beach. The reception will be indoors at Intercontinental Danang's Reception Hall.
The Party
What food will be served at the reception?
We’ve selected a set Asian menu to be served at your seat. If you have a dietary restriction, please indicate so in your RSVP.
Will there be an open bar?
Yes! Soft drinks, cocktails, and select beer and liquors are available.
Will there be an after-party?
Yes! We’ll have an intimate Karaoke night. Let us know if you’d like to participate in the RSVP.

The Invitation
What do the characters on the wax seal signify?
The characters are our traditional Chinese names: 陳國英 (Andrew) and 黃卓生 (Tim), symbolizing our heritage and personal identities.
Can you describe the cover design?
The invitation's cover features a celestial theme, centered around the Chinese Zodiac animals representing us - the Ox (Andrew) and the Tiger (Tim).
Is there a special scent on the card?
Yup - though random! We've infused some of the cards with our signature scent, THÉ MATCHA 26, from Le Labo in Osaka. This fragrance holds a special place in our hearts, as it was chosen on the same day Tim proposed to Andrew.
What do the symbols at the top and bottom of the invitation represent?
At the top and bottom are symbols of the sun and a tree, representing Fire and Wood elements, as Tim is a Fire Tiger and Andrew is a Wood Ox, blending our unique characteristics in harmony.
